Minutes for January 14, 2010

Clayton Federated Women’s Club

General Meeting January 14, 2010

The meeting was called to order at 11:50. Jamie Blanks led us in prayer; Linda Gonzales led the Club Collect, and Ruth Lawrence led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Flint Blanks was introduced as our guest.

Jamie Blanks asked if there were any corrections to the minutes. Correction was made that we didn’t agree to join Main Street, it was just discussed. Pat Chavez made motion to approve minutes w/ correction and Jackie Mares second motion. Minutes for November meeting were approved.

Sue Richardson gave the treasurer’s report which indicated that we had a balance on hand at the November meeting of $4536.79. Deposits of $3814.75 were made and disbursements of $3781.07 were made leaving a new balance of $4570.47.

Darlene Walker gave a report about the Jewelry class that the Art Division. The latest art class was canceled due to weather. They will have that art class this Thursday at the Housing Authority at 1:00. It will be lead by Ethel Bennifield on tea bag folding. Please bring a glue stick if you have one.

Jamie Blanks gave a report about the Civic Group meeting that was on December 17th, 2009. Civic Group voted that the Art Center would be the primary focus of the Civic Division at this point in time. It was also decided that we would need to reinstate officers to accommodate the new projects. New slate is as follows: Zina Schamber- Chairman, Carol Childress- Vice Chairman, Jamie Blanks – Secretary, Karan Brower- Treasurer, & Pat Chavez- Vice Treasurer.

Sue Richardson gave report on Courtesy Committee. Thank you notes were sent from Cleo Collins’ family and from the Historical Society for the donations we gave.

Ruth Lawrence said that the Nominating committee would be having their first meeting soon and asked for people who had suggestions for nominees or would like to volunteer for a position to contact her.

Victoria Baker gave report on the scholarships. She has given the school the deadlines and they will be contacting her soon.

Sue Richardson gave report on the Chamber of Commerce. Their website is up. They are also working on the luncheon they will be hosting.

Museum report was given by Victoria Baker. They are working on getting new programs each month. Next month they will have a meteorologist come to speak. They are also working on getting the schools involved with the museum.

Unfinished Business

“Clayton Arts” Committee report was given by Pat Chavez. Committee has been working on Articles of Incorporation, By-Laws, and 501 C 3. Pat asked members to read the Articles of Incorporation so that we could vote on them. Sue Richardson made a motion that we accept the Articles of Incorporation. Jamie Blanks second motion. Motion passed. By-Laws were passed out for members to read before next month’s meeting. Members will be asked to vote on By-Laws at next general meeting.

New Business

Photo Contest deadlines are April 10th for “The Year in Pictures” and February 10th for “Great States Contest”. For more information contact Karan Brower.

Year End Reports

If you haven’t gotten you hours in to Karan, you need to do that ASAP. We will start turning in hours every month so that it will be easier to keep track of them. We will also have sign in sheets at every CFWC event to help keep track of hours, so make sure you sign in at every event.

South Central Convention- October 22, 23 in Albuquerque, NM Painted pony needs to be selected for the club to give to the convention. Carol, Nola, Pat, Corine, and some others will go to Knotts to pick out a pony.

Program on International Affairs was given by Karan Brower. Information on Heifer project to give means of well being to people in third world countries was given.

Announcements included

Next meeting Hostesses are Carol & Nola Childress. Program will be candidates for local offices.

Pat Chavez made motion to adjourn meeting. Ruth Lawrence second motion.

Meeting adjourned at 1:20.
