Clayton Federated Women’s Club
General Meeting November 12, 2009
The meeting was called to order at 11:50. Jamie Blanks led us in prayer; Ruth Lawrence led the Club Collect and Karan Brower the Pledge of Allegiance.
New Members included Jo Beth Vigil-Price, Angela Sephranik, & Nancy Leighton. Guests included Irene Carrasco.
Program was given by Victoria Baker.
Jamie Blanks asked if there were any corrections to the minutes. Sue Richardson made motion to approve minutes and Pat Chavez second motion. Minutes for October meeting were approved.
Sue Richardson gave the treasurer’s report which indicated that we had a balance on hand at the October meeting of $5397.72. Deposits of $1471.90 were made and disbursements of $550.00 were made leaving a new balance of $6319.62. For the November meeting, the balance on hand was$ 6319.62. Deposits of $1168.90 were made and disbursements of $2951.73 were made leaving a new balance of $4536.79.

Sue Richardson let gave correspondence report which included, Thank you notes from Shirley Garfield with Girls Ranch New Mexico thanking us for donation. Note from Health Fair Committee for volunteers from the club. Chapter W PEO thanked us for donations to their Rummage Sale. June Furguson sent note to thank us for the wonderful convention we hosted.
Members were reminded to get hours turned in before December Meeting (Dec 10th, Kokopelli)
Darlene Walker gave a report about the Jewelry classes that the Art Division had. On Oct. 22 there was a watercolor class and on Nov 5 there was a jewelry class at Karan’s Gallery. Darlene brought the items she did at the classes to show everyone how it had gone.
Jamie Blanks gave a report about the Civic Group meeting that was on Oct 22. Next meeting is Nov 19th, 7pm at the Dudley Building and later at the Warp 12 (Karan’s Gallery)
Sue Richardson Reported on the Christmas Bazaar. Everything was in order. She sent around signup sheet for shifts.
Pat Chavez gave Art Center Report. Main St has approved the use of the Dudley Bldg for the Art center and we are waiting for the city to approve it as well. The first meeting for the Art Center will be Nov. 19th, 6pm at the Dudley Building and will later move to Warp 12 (Karan’s Gallery).
Jamie Blanks gave report on the reusable bags. Bags will be sold at the Christmas Bazaar and she will check with the Grocery store to see if they need more.
Edith Lois Priest gave report on the Library. She informed us that the Children’s Activity will be moved to Saturdays. Jamie Blanks asked if they could start a newsletter with a calendar. Edith Lois said she would bring that up at the next meeting.
Sue Richardson gave report on Chamber of Commerce. Legislative Luncheon in Santa Fe is coming up and Clayton’s is the one everyone looks forward to. Moonlight Madness Light Parade & Main Street Open House is Dec. 8th. (please participate in parade). Frequent Buyer Card has been introduced. Card will be sold at Chamber Office for $50 and card holder gets 10% off purchases with participating vendors. Members are encouraged to get them for themselves and to give as gifts.
Karan Brower asked members if we wanted to join Main Street and members agreed we should.
Edith Lois Priest gave report on Museum and told members that they were having a raffle at the Christmas Bazaar for a Cattleman’s Valet valued at $400. Winner would be announced Sunday at the Bazaar. Tickets were $5.
Unfinished Business
501-C application- Sue researched how to get nonprofit status and found that we needed to get the New Mexico license which was about $10 as well as a national license which was about $500. Pat, Karan, & Jo Beth volunteered to take care of the legal aspect of getting the nonprofit status.
