March 18th Minutes

Clayton Federated Women’s Club

General Meeting March 18, 2010 (Rescheduled from March 11, 2010)

The meeting was called to order at 11:40. Ruth Lawrence led us in prayer; Jamie Blanks led the Club Collect and the Pledge of Allegiance.

Guest & New Members included Irene Miera.

Program was given by Jackie Mares and Irene Miera on Domestic Violence. What behaviors are included in domestic violence and statistics on domestic violence in Clayton and NM.

Collection of Worksheeets

Jamie Blanks asked if there were any corrections to the minutes. Minutes for Feburary meeting were approved as read.

Pat Chavez, on behalf of Sue Richardson, gave the treasurer’s report which indicated that we had a balance on hand at the January meeting of $4455.72. Deposits of $0 were made and disbursements of $48.35 were made leaving a new balance of $4407.37.

Pat Chavez, on behalf of Sue Richardson, gave correspondence report which included thank you notes from the Library and the Historical Society for contributing to their organizations.

Darlene Walker gave a report about the Pottery Painting class and the Floral Design class that the Art Division had had. Pottery Painting class was held on 2-18-10 and was led by Karan Brower. Floral Design class was held on 3.4.10 and was led by Jamie Blanks.

Carol Childress gave a report about the Civic Group meeting.

Pat Chavez, on behalf of Sue Richardson, gave Courtesy Commmittee report which included thank you notes from the Library and the Historical Society for contributing to their organizations.

Ruth Lawrence gave report on nominating committee. Committee has nominated Pat Chavez for President, Carol Childress for Vice President, Jamie Blanks for Secretary, and Karan Brower for Treasurer. Nominations from the floor will be accepted at April meeting.

Scholarship Committee- Victoria Baker N/A

Chamber of Commerce- Pat Chavez on behalf of Sue Richardson, Chamber Banquet will be held Thursday, March 25 at 6pm. Brian Moore will be the speaker.

Unfinished Business

Powerful Difference Contest- Jackie Mares read what was submitted to contest. Contest will be held April 21st.

Corporation Status- Pat Chavez, We are Incorporated! We’re now working on getting our National Non-profit.

State Convention (April 23-24)- several ladies are already attending, please come if you can. Karan and Pat (& other volunteers) are going to make 80 favors & Jamie will be responsible for 10 Centerpieces.

New Business

Cookbook- Jamie Blanks, New fundraiser for Art Center will be a CFWC Cookbook. Members are asked to submit 5 recipes before April 15. Cookbook packets will be handed out or emailed to you. You may submit recipes online or drop off recipe submission sheets (in cookbook packet) to Jackie Mares at Golden Spread. Recipe submission sheets will be available at Golden Spread. Contact Jamie, Kathrine W, or Zina S. if you have any questions.

Announcements –

Next meeting- Rabbit Ear, Thursday, April 8 at 11:30. Program will be on Art provided by Isabell Williams. Hostesses are Edith Lois Priest and Billie McDonald.
