October 2010 Minutes

Clayton Federated Women’s Club

General Meeting October 14, 2010

The meeting was called to order at 11:50. Katheryn led us in prayer; Edith Lois led the Club Collect and Jamie led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Program included all the local candidates for the upcoming election. Candidates gave their views and positions on local concerns and members asked questions.

Jamie Blanks asked if there were any corrections to the minutes. Minutes were approved as read.

Treasurer’s report was announced incomplete due to the excessive amount of information given. Sue said she needed to pay city for the Civic Center (2 different checks: one for deposit and one for the rent). There are also deposits from cookbook and booth rental that need to be made.

Jamie gave a report about the floral design class that the Art Division had had on Tuesday, October 5th. Six members attended and Jamie gave a lesson on using Oasis foam for arrangements in baskets.

Pat gave a report about the Civic Group meeting that was on Oct 16th. Art Center is about to open. They need volunteers to help man the center during business hours. They also need people to submit their art for display and to sell. They also need volunteers to help with the cleaning up before opening. The center also needs to get donations.

Sue gave report on the Bazaar. She said half of the booth spaces have been sold. Nut Sales wil be due Oct 27th. Katheryn will paint signs. Members need to sign up for shifts.

Edith Lois gave report on the Library and informed members that they need a brand new computer donated.

Edith Lois then gave a report on the Museum. The Horse Races Event will be held this Saturday and their tour to Taos went fabulously and everyone had a tremendous time.

Sue gave a report on the Chamber. Moonlight Madness and the Light Parade will be held on Tues. Dec 7. The Luna is working to get a concert that evening. Drawings will be held at each sort. Members were encouraged to get a float in the parade for Clayton Arts. Clayton Arts will be offering Christmas craft classes to kids during this time to allow parents to shop.

Unfinished Business-

Linda gave a report on the convention saying that we did well in the Art Show and each club gave their history.

Jamie told members that cookbooks were in and for sale. Members need to buy their cookbooks from Jamie or Katheryn.

New Business- N/A

Announcements included- Next meeting will be Nov. 11 and the hostesses are Jamie and Pat. Program will be on conservation.
