General Meeting May 13, 2010
The meeting was called to order at 11:40. Jo Beth Vigil-Price led us in prayer; Sue Richardson led the Club Collect and the Pledge of Allegiance.
Jamie Blanks asked if there were any corrections to the minutes. Minutes for April meeting were approved as read.
Sue Richardson let gave correspondence report which included, 3 cards from the Scholarship recipients.
Sue Richardson gave the treasurer’s report which indicated that we had a balance on hand at the April meeting of $4407.53. Deposits of $422.23 were made and disbursements of $666.88 were made leaving a new balance of $4162.88.
Jamie Blanks gave a report about the Civic Group meeting that was on April 15, 2010. Civic Division has decided not to proceed with Dudley Building due to restrictions and time constraints with the City. They have narrowed down the possibilities to 2 different buildings, after looking at all available, vacant buildings. The two buildings that we have decided on are the building Spots is renting and Honey Poling’s building (old Rope’s). The Board has passed the following motion: The CFWC will pursue purchasing a building for the Art Center and Club House provided that members agree.
Jamie asked Members to approve purchasing a building. Ruth Lawrence made motion. Jo Beth seconded motion. Motion passed.
Discussion was held on Art Center: CFWC needs to get the sign out of the building. The city will no longer be involved with the Art Center. Does the 501 C 3 need to be done before purchase of the building? It’s not a concern to obtain the loan; however, no donations at this time will be tax deductable. Two accounts will be opened, one in each bank
Darlene Walker gave report of the Dine Out meeting the Art Division hosts every year. The dine out meeting was held at Wild Horse on May 6, 2010 at 6:00pm. Lane Harris, Cierra Keezer, & Becky Claycome were the recipients of the scholarships.
Cookbook report was given by Jamie. All recipes have been entered and she will complete the book and mail it in asap. There will be a Cookbook release and tasting party when the cookbook comes in.
Awards were announced for the Art entered in the Convention.
Sue made a motion that $25 be donated to the Baptist Church in memory of Isabell Williams. Pat seconded motion. Motion passed.
Meeting adjourned at 1:15.
