Clayton Federated Women’s Club
General Meeting Sept. 10,2009
The meeting was called to order at 11:40. Edith Lois Priest led us in prayer; Karan Brower led the Club Collect and Sue Richardson led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Katherine Whiteside was introduced as a new member.
Jamie Blanks asked if there were any corrections to the minutes. Carol Childress made motion to approve minutes and Pat Chavez second motion. Minutes for May meeting were approved.
Sue Richardson gave the treasurer’s report which indicated that we had a balance on hand at the May meeting of $4,425.25. Deposits of $2,191.96 were made and disbursements of $1,219.49 were made leaving a new balance of $5,397.72.
Darlene Walker gave a report that the Art Division had had their picnic to start the year. It was a great success even though a storm came in during dinner. A good time was had by all.
Jamie Blanks reported that the Civic Meeting will be held on Oct 22, at the museum.
Jamie Blanks reported that the reusable bags would be used at the district convention as goodie bags. Petals has sold out of bags and she would check to see if the Ranch Market was in need of more bags. She reminded members that bags would be sold at general meetings if anyone needed to purchase them.
Pat Chaves had people sign up for shifts at the District Convention. Everyone was asked to bring salads for the noon meal and they were to sign up with their salad.
Edith Lois Priest reported that there were two new members on the library committee, Jackie Mares & Jeff Childress. She also encouraged members to attend the program in October.
Sue Richardson reported that the Chamber was to have a motorcycle run at the Fair Grounds the coming weekend. It was to be a fundraiser for scholarships.
Edith Lois Priest reported that the museum had lots of changes taking place. They had the Old West Days which had been a great success and looked to become an annual event. They have many programs coming up that should be very interesting.
Nomination committee was selected and was reminded that they would need to present a slate in March.
Correction was made that Golden Spread was accepting donations for Domestic Violence.
Nut sales will have two different due dates. The first will be at the convention and the second will be sometime in October.
Announcements included: Christmas boxes are available to pick up and fill. Jamie Blanks and Corrine Smith are hostesses for next month’s meeting and Billie McDonnald will be responsible for the program on Conservation.
